PARIS FASHION WEEK | Audemars Piguet To Debut At Paris Fashion Week With Ralph & Russo

Paris Fashion Week is set for September 28 to October 6 in both digital and physical form, and luxury watch brand Audemars Piguet is all set to make its debut on the catwalk. The brand is partnering with London couture fashion house Ralph & Russo as it unveils its Spring / Summer 2021 Pret – a – Porter collection.

Models will be wearing selections from Audemars Piguet’s new collection of 34 mm – sized pieces from its iconic Royal Oak collection, sized to fit a woman’s wrist. The steel and/or 18k pink gold watches are distinctive for their iconic grande tapisserie dials, a guilloche design created via a complex manufacturing process in which little squares are carved out on the dial’s thin metal plate by an engraving machine. Small lozenges are simultaneously cut out in the thin grooves separating the squares in a seamless weave, which creates a tapestry appearance. Some are surrounded by a diamond – set bezel.

The brand’s ladies Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon will also make a special appearance on the runway. Not only is the watch the first ladies’ piece in AP’s highly complicated Concept collection but it was the brand’s first flying tourbillon when it was introduced in 2018. Like the men’s Royal Oak, the watch has an eight-sided bezel with six – sided screws, which is signature to the Royal Oak collection.

The case of the newest model has a frosted gold finish, created using an ancient Florentine jewelry technique revisited by jewelry designer Carolina Bucci and adapted to adorn Audemars Piguet’s watches. The shimmering case nicely frames the multi – layered dial composed of four juxtaposed circles of increasing size and graded hues of blue emanating from the flying tourbillion cage at 6 o’clock. The tourbillon cage is set with diamonds.

The collaboration between the two family – owned companies is part of Audemars Piguet’s endeavor to work with brands in other fields that share its values. ‘We have long been admirers as well as clients of Audemars Piguet and their exceptional watches’, says Tamara Ralph, creative director of Ralph & Russo. ‘Beyond our personal affinity for the brand, we feel a strong connection and alignment through our mutual dedication to both uncompromising craftsmanship’. Established in London in 2010 by Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, Ralph & Russo is a luxury brand acclaimed as the first British guest member in almost a century to be accepted by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.
