In the fast-paced realm of content creation, where algorithms dictate visibility and follower engagement, the often-overlooked toll on creators’ mental and emotional well-being took center stage at the 1 Billion Followers Summit’s inaugural day. Held at the Museum of the Future Stage, the summit featured compelling panel discussions, shedding light on the essential yet neglected aspect of a creator’s journey – self-care.

A Creator’s Guide to a Healthy Mind

The session titled “A Creator’s Guide to a Healthy Mind” brought together influential speakers and mental health experts to share practical tools and insights for content creators to prioritize their mental well-being. Moderated by Abdullah AlRaesi, the panel included Rajeh Alharthi, a Saudi social media influencer, Kareem Esmail, a Positive Psychology Coach and founder of Mental Health Hub, and Fares Ghandour, CEO of Tuhoon, an Arabic app dedicated to mental health.

Fares Ghandour highlighted the critical link between mental health and sleep, stating, “A great deal of mental issues revolve around a lack of rest. Those who sleep less than 8 hours a night tend to suffer from anxiety and overthinking.” Emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance for long-term happiness, Ghandour acknowledged the diverse emotional spectrum humans experience.

Kareem Esmail reinforced the connection between anxiety and lack of sleep, stating, “It’s crucial to prioritize ample sleep for mental well-being.” He also delved into the Islamic perspective on mental health, emphasizing the significance of compassion and kindness in aligning with the teachings of Islam for improved well-being.

Rajeh Al Harthi shared personal experiences, advocating for the importance of good sleep for overall health. Despite his extensive TV career, he admitted to occasional nervousness and self-doubt, advising content creators to maintain a positive mindset and selectively engage with feedback to protect their mental health.

You’re Allowed to Take Breaks

Moderated by Emirati lawyer and community influencer, Omar Al Heloo, the panel on “You’re Allowed to Take Breaks” featured world-famous personalities like Haifa Beseisso (Fly with Haifa), Raghda Taleen, and Saif Al Dhahab. Al Heloo boldly declared, “I’m no longer a slave of the algorithm and told my followers I was going to take a break.”

Raghda Taleen, a TikTok sensation, confessed the challenges of disconnecting from social media and the pressure to provide content as her following grew.
