INFLUENCERS | Michelle Obama Wants You To Step Into Self-Care

Remainders to lean into self-care are always welcome. But reminders to lean into self-care from Michelle Obama? Those are revered. The former first lady took to Instagram last Wednesday to celebrate #WellnessWednesday with a tribute to the small things that keep her-and all of us-feeling and functioning from a centered space.

Obama shared a duet of tranquil photos, one that found her meditating with friends in a serene space surrounded by greenery, the other capturing a power walk on a bike path near the water. “Over the years I’ve recognized something important: Whether it was going to the gym at the crack of down or finding an extra moment to unwind in my favorite chair, in order for me to be at my best for others around me, I needed to find some time for myself”, Obama  wrote in the caption, going on to note that with the realities of modern life, this seemingly simple feat is one easier voiced than actualized.

The health advocate noted action taken by her followers, from setting boundaries to joining book clubs, and encouraged her audience to continue on this path rather than actualized.

The health advocate noted actions taken by her followers, from setting boundaries to joining book clubs, and encouraged her audience to continue on this path rather than letting good habits lapse, adding that community support is essential. “So before the end of summer, I want you to find a friend to join you in some of these personal wellness moments – post a picture and tag me so I can see it, too! Because getting some time for ourselves doesn’t necessarily mean that we have to be alone!” So if you can’t step up your wellness game for yourself, do it for Michelle Obama.
