Say hello to your new holiday wish list: Christian Louboutin created an enviable capsule collection for Nordstorm with endless holiday gifting ideas in mind. The 46 piece line includes shoes for men and women, handbags, leather goods, travel sets, and other small gifts. And one of Louboutin’s most beloved designs have returned: his adorable baby shoes!
The collection features embellished, patterned, and printed versions of Louboutin’s classic silhouettes. Louboutin told T&C that he was inspired by Palais de la Porte Dore e, which was one the site of the Musée des Art d’Afrique et d’Océanie in Paris, when designing the collection. “It’s really beautiful building, with a type of stone carving and tapestry”, Louboutin said, adding that his love of leopard print is also thanks to visiting the Musée as a child.
The new capsule collection also marks the return of Louboutin’s much-loved baby shoes. While Louboutin noted that his friends and clients asked him to make baby shoes over the years, he was actually inspired to create the tiny Louboutins in honor of his goddaughter.
“I am the godfather of a sweet, sweet girl called Isabella”, Louboutin told T&C. “My friend, Isabella’s mother, said ‘listen, you can not not do the shoes for the christening of your goddaughter.’ I had to do it, so it all actually started because of my goddaughter”.
Of the many standout pieces in his new capsule collection, Louboutin’s favorite are the items with bright prints and his signature gold triangle pyramid, which is emblematic of Egypt. Louboutin’s affection for Egyptian inspired designs is evident in many of his collection, and the designer even revealed that his ultimate style icone is Nefertiti, the Egyptian queen. “I dedicate the beauty line I started to her”, Louboutin said.
The entire Christian Louboutin capsule collection is available to shop at 18 select Nordstrom stores, including their new flagship store in New York, and on the Nordstrome site. Items in the collection range from $45 to $4,890 in price.
