While expertly applied make-up and lighting a role in creating a beautiful finish on a cover star’s skin, a flawless canvas certainly helps. Irina Shayk, a radiant beauty on the cover of Vogue’s March issue, is a case in point: she is possessed of luminous skin that’s the product of excellent genes and a holistic lifestyle.
Here, she shares her skincare secrets with us.
After Waking
‘The morning allows for a great start to the day if you spend it in the right way, so I do have a morning ritual. I don’t like to be in a rush, so usually I take some time for myself. When I wake up I have a glass of water with squeezed lemon juice. After this, I take a shower, and use a cube of ice to wake up and refresh my skin – a trick I learned from my mom. I then use a moisturizer and a sun block, and put on my favorite perfume. I also like going to the gym in the morning – it’s a great start to the day and gives me a boost of energy’.
During The Day
‘Usually I don’t wear make-up during the day, or If I do, (I) use a tiny bit of concealer for the under-eye area. I make sure I drink a lot of water and never use heavy creams in the summer’.
Bedtime Routine
‘In the evening I pay special attention to thoroughly cleaning my skin and always use a collagen mask or moisturizer before I go to bed. Lip balm is another product I use a lot – anywhere I go, I have it in my purse’.
Skincare on the Fly
‘I always make sure I moisturize my skin a lot when I travel, as the air on a plane is really dry. To revive my skin after long-distance flights, I use special masks, like Mimi Luzon’s Sparkling Champagne Mask – it moisturizes and refreshes the skin and gives, it a healthy glow. When I travel for work, I always see my beauty queen, Mimi Luzon, and do 24-carat gold mask treatments for extra glow.’
