As masks have become an essential part of everyday life, designers have begun to jump on the bandwagon by creating face coverings. One of the earliest to do so was Off-White’s Virgil Abloh, who included a version covered in the brand’s black arrows logo part of the fall 2019 collection. Since then, the piece has achieved cult status online – it’s currently sold out on Off-White’s website – thanks to Abloh’s hype beast fans, and surprisingly, Angelina Jolie. Typically the actress-director is consistent with her clothing choices, preferring to wear pieces from a shortlist of favored minimalist labels like Ryan Roch and Gabriela Hearst.
Thursday in Hollywood, she switched things up while shopping with her son Knox opting for a black slip dress and one of Abloh’s masks.
As celebrities explore mask options, they’ve settled on styles that reflect their perspective on fashion. Earlier this week, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, went for femininity and her heritage by wearing a floral piece covered in a print from beloved London department store, Liberty. Meanwhile, queen of bling Jennifer Lopez chose pastel sequin for a bike ride through Central Park.
With her love of simplicity and clean lines, Jolie was an ideal match for Off-White’s graphic face covering. Best of all, the piece aligned with her current focus: humanitarian work. With 100% of the net proceeds from the Off-White masks set to benefit COVID-19 relief efforts, it’s luxury fashion for a great cause.
