ROYALS | Meghan Markle Says She Was The ‘Most Trolled Person In World’ In 2019

Meghan Markle has opened up about the ‘almost unsurvivable’ online abuse she has faced since being married into the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently made an appearance on the ‘Teenager Therapy Podcast’, where they discussed the ill-effect of social media on mental health.

The special episode, which marked World Mental Health Day on Saturday, October 10, saw Markle share her personal experiences with trolling. ‘In 2019, I was the most trolled person in the entire world – male or female’, began the Duchess. ‘For eight months of that, I wasn’t even visible, I was on maternity leave with the baby. But what was able to be manufactured and churned out, it’s almost unsurvivable, it’s so big you can’t even think what that feels like’, she said. Markle continued to say. ‘I don’t care if you’re 15 or 25, if people are saying things about you that aren’t true, what does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging’.

The couple also acknowledged the value of social media in the current world while stating that it can quickly turn negative. ‘Yes, it’s a great way to connect but it also ends up being a place where is a lot of disconnected’, she said. While Prince Harry remarked that it is ‘very easy to be sucked in and consumed by negativity’, and that everyone has ‘the choice to be able to cut that out of our lives’. He added: ‘Hate following has become a thing, you don’t need to do that. Just as much as we worry about, be concerned, and take notice of what we put in our bellies as a died, the same applies for our eyes and our mind, what we’re consuming is affecting us’.

‘We all know what it feels like to have our feeling hurts, we all know what is feel like to be isolated, and I think that’s why they work you guys are doing here is so important’, she said.

The couple introduced themselves as Harry and Meghan to the three podcast host who are seniors at a high school in Anaheim, California. Speaking to them Markle said, ‘We all know what it feels like to have our feelings hurt, we all know what it feels like to be isolated, and I think’s why the work you Guys are doing here is so important.’.
