THE POWER OF INFLUENCE | Tommy Hilfiger Launched A New Initiative To Increase Diverse Representation In The Fashion Industry

In its commitment to ensure the current Black Lives Matter movement results in real, long-term change, Tommy Hilfiger has launched the People’s Place Program. Committing U.S.$5 million as an initial donation, the house’s new platform presents a three-pillar approach to increase the representation of Black, indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) within the fashion and creative industries, as well as encouraging listening, learning and engagement. The first pillar, title ‘partnerships and representation’, will work on greater representation of the BIPOC community in its talent pool and partnering with organisations and creative that will aid in this goal, the second, called ‘career support and industry access’, pledges to increase employee diversity through, titled ‘industry leadership’, works to ensure there is representation at every level, and commits to independent, industry – wide analyses of diversity, equity and inclusion in the fashion industry. PVH Corp., Tommy Hilfiger’s parent company, is also donating US$100,000 to both the NAACP Leage Defense and Education Fund and The National Urban League, also matching 100 per cent of donations made by associates globally to organisations supporting racial justice.
