MARK YOUR CALENDAR | World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Returns In February To Saudi Arabia For Its Fifth Event In The Kingdom

Fans of WWE in Saudi Arabia are bracing themselves for the return of the popular wresting event! According to various news reports, Saudi Arabia will host another pay-per-view event on Thursday, February 20, making it the fifth show to be held in the Kingdom after WWE Greatest Royal Rumble and WWE Crown Jewel in 2018, and WWE Super ShowDown and WWE Crown Jewel in 2019.

According to Wrestle Talk, a match between two wrestlers – “The Fiend” and Kane – for the Universal Championship has already been advertised in Saudi Arabia. This news of the upcoming event follows an announcement made by WWE in November last year that it had expanded its live event partnership with the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA) through to 2027, in order to include annual large – scale event and media agreement in the region.

In 2018, wrestling history was made as the WWE’s inaugural Greatest Royal Rumble event launched in King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in the Red Sea coastal city of Jeddah. The event came after the American-based company signed what was described as “a ten-year strategic multiplatform partnership” with Kingdom’s General Sports Authority (GSA) that will cover live events, as well as social media, television, and other elements.

The following year, WWE landed in Saudi Arabia again, this time with a star-studded show that featured seven championship matches and special appearances by stars like Triple H and Rey Mysterio. It also included the first- ever 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble match featuring wrestlers such as Braun Strowman, Daniel Bryan, Kurt Angle, Bid Show, Kane, Chris Jericho, The New Day, and Elias, eclipsing the 40-man battle in 2011, making it the largest event in WWE history.
