ARTS & CULTURE & ENTERTAINMENT | Red Sea Film Festival Unveils Official Poster

JEDDAH | SAUDI ARABIA – – The Red Sea International Festival on Monday unveiled the official poster of its inaugural edition, which will begin on March 12.

The 10 – day event will feature a number of local and regional movies. The official poster features an image of Saudi ballerina Samira Al-Khamis emerging from the sea. The image, shot by Syrian-born artist Osama Esid, depicts the wave of change across the region and the opportunities for the new generation of filmmakers in the Kingdom.

Esid used the wet-collodion process in creating the poster. It is a traditional photography technique invented in 1851. He then painted it using vibrant color tints, bringing the back and white photography vividly to life.

The fusion of modern and traditional photography approaches epitomizes the festival’s commitment to heritage and innovation.

Three Arab artists collaborated to finalize the poster. Omani artist and illustrator Chndy’s graphic design complemented the figure of Al-Khamis in Esid’s bold design.
